There are so many terms and techniques in the world of hair. But we are here to let you in on some of them! That’s what friends are for. Today’s term is ‘’the baggy method’’ This is a method used by naturalistas and non-naturalistas alike to retain moisture to the maximum. As you may know, natural curly/coily hair suffers from a severe case of dryness because moisture does not travel all the way down the hair shaft. This is where the baggy method comes in. Baggy method to the rescue!
Why The Baggy Method
Naturalistas swear by this method as a way to grow long, natural hair. This is because it helps to really retain moisture which means less breakage and more length retention which equals long natural hair. However, this is not the sole way to get long natural hair, it is just one of the ways.
How To Do The Baggy Method
TCB Naturals Leave-In-Treatment
Simply put, you need to use a leave-in-conditioner and a paper bag. A ziplock bag comes in handy for this! You could also use a shower cap but a paper bag has been known to yield better results.
Step 1: Ensure you wash your hair because this method requires freshly washed hair for optimum results.
Step 2: Section the hair to make it easy to manage and apply conditioner.
Step 3: Apply your TCB Naturals Leave-In-Treatment: Either just on the ends or all over your hair. Our Leave-In-Treatment contains shea butter & coconut oil which deeply moisturize & nourish your hair. Perfect for the baggy method because it provides intense moisture therapy.
Step 4:Put the paper bag over your head and leave it on for 3 to 4 hours. We know it’s a long time but it is way worth it.
Step 5: Remove the shower cap and do not wash out the conditioner. Continue to style as desired.
The whole essence of the baggy method is infusing loads of moisture into the hair strands. It means that you should not wash out the treatment after you remove the paper bag.
How Often To Do The Baggy Method
It is not possible nor is it recommended to do the baggy method every day. The hair needs time to breathe and it is not good for the hair to be always damp. Let it breathe girl! You can use this method once or twice a month during spaced out intervals.
