Deep conditioning is an important part of a healthy haircare regimen, especially if you have relaxed hair. Your hair has undergone a major chemical treatment and requires extra TLC. Deep conditioning can help eliminate frizz and strengthen your strands. Check out how to properly deep condition your relaxed tresses here!
1. Use The Correct Products
This is the most important step of deep conditioning. Not all conditioners are deep conditioners. You have to look for products that penetrate deep into your hair shaft. There are special deep conditioners in the market for relaxed/chemically treated hair, which contains protein and moisture. They are supposed to be left in your hair for 15-20 minutes. Make sure you follow up the deep conditioning process with TCB Naturals Leave-In Treatment for extra sheen.
2. Use Heat Or Steam
This is probably one of the few times that heat is good for your hair. When the deep conditioner is warmed up, it penetrates into your hair shaft in a better manner. After applying the deep conditioner, you can wear a heating cap or sit under a hooded dryer for almost 20 minutes.
3. Cool And Rinse
If you have used heat or steamed your hair, it is a good idea to let it cool before you start rinsing it. Leave your hair for 10 minutes and let it cool effectively. After your locs have cooled down, rinse your hair with cool water to seal the cuticles. This will give your hair a smoother and a shinier look.
